For organizers

Creating and publishing an event

Anyone with an Abonten account can create an event. You become that event's organizer, with access to its attendee list, insights and finances.

The lifecycle

Draft → Published → (Cancelled), and after the last date has passed the event is archived automatically.

Start an event

  • Web: side menu › Create. The event form opens as a step-by-step modal.
  • App: Account › Organizer › Events › New event (or the + button).

Your progress is saved as a draft as you go. Drafts live under Manage › Drafts (web) or Organizer › Event drafts (app); a draft that is never finished is cleaned up automatically after it expires.

What you fill in

FieldNotes
Title, description, tagsBe specific; search and similar-event suggestions use them.
Category and typeOne category (e.g. Music, Business) and one or more types.
Dates and timesA single date or several occurrences. For multi-date events buyers pick the date at checkout. An event cannot start in the past.
Venue and locationPick the address or drop a pin on the map; the event appears in location searches and "near you" using this.
FlyerOne image, uploaded straight to our image host with a progress bar.
Ticket typesFree (register only) or paid. For each paid type: name, price in GHS and quantity available. Quantities are hard limits — sales stop when they run out.
VisibilityPublish now or keep as a draft.

Pricing and the service fee

You set the ticket price. Buyers pay your price plus Abonten's service fee, shown to them as a separate line. You receive 100% of the ticket price you set. See Finance, payouts and settlement.

Publish

Publishing makes the event visible in search, explore and your public profile, and opens ticket sales. You do not need a payout account to publish — you need one only when you request a payout.

Edit after publishing

Open the event under Manage › Events (web) or Organizer › Events (app) and choose Edit. You can change details, the flyer, dates and ticket types. Reducing a ticket type's quantity below what has been sold is not possible; adding new types is. Buyers keep their tickets when details change — if the change is significant (new date, new venue), message your attendees.

Delete a draft or event

Drafts can be deleted freely. A published event with sales should be cancelled, not deleted — see Cancelling an event. Events with financial history cannot be hard-deleted; they are archived after they end.

Good listings

  • Use the real venue name and a precise pin — buyers rely on the map.
  • Match your ticket names to what is on the door.
  • Keep dates in local time (Ghana).
  • Do not list events you do not have the right to sell tickets for; misleading listings are removed and can lead to account restriction.
