Privacy and your data

What is public

Your username, name, avatar, bio, website, published events and places, highlights, Spotlights, Stories (while they last) and reviews are visible to anyone, and so is following an organizer or place (they are told, and follower counts are shown). "Notify me" alerts are private. Favourites and bookings are private. Your phone number and email are never shown publicly; organizers see the contact details of their ticket holders, and place owners see the details in booking requests.

Location

The app asks for location permission to show what's near you and to sort by distance. You can decline and pick a town instead, and you can revoke permission in your phone settings at any time. The website asks the browser for location only when you use "around you" or nearby sorting.

Notifications and emails

Push notifications can be turned off in your phone settings. Rewards emails have an on/off switch on the Rewards page, picks and alerts emails a switch in Settings › Alerts and picks, and every such email has an unsubscribe link. Ticket, cancellation and sign-in emails are part of the service. See Notifications.

Ask for a copy of your data or a correction

Most details can be corrected directly in Settings. For a copy of the personal information Abonten holds about you, or a correction we cannot make ourselves, contact support through the in-app support conversation while signed in — we use that to confirm it is really you — or email privacy@abontenhub.com from the email address on your account. There is no self-service download yet; requests are handled by staff, who aim to acknowledge them within two working days (Monday to Friday, Ghana time).

Complaints

If you believe Abonten has mishandled your information, contact support first. You also have the right to complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.
