For customers
Spotlight, Stories and following
Spotlight
Spotlight is a feed of short vertical videos and photos posted by organizers, place owners and Abonten. Open it from the Spotlight tab in the app or from the menu on the website. Choose what to watch:
- For you — a mix based on what you watch, buy and follow;
- Following — only organizers and places you follow;
- Nearby — posts from around the area you are exploring;
- Happening soon — posts about events coming up shortly;
- Trending — what many people are watching now.
A post can link an event or a place. Its button always shows the listing's current state, such as View event, Sold out or Event cancelled.
On a post you can like it, comment (and reply to a comment), save it to find it later under Saved Spotlights on your profile, share it, or choose Not interested to see fewer posts like it. The ⋯ menu also lets you report a post or a comment.
Sponsored posts are Spotlights an organizer or place paid to show to more people. They are always marked Sponsored, and at most a small share of what you see is sponsored.
Stories
Stories are photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours. They appear as a row of circles at the top of Messages, with people you have not caught up on first. Tap one to watch; tap or swipe to move on.
Replying to a Story or reacting to it sends a private message to its publisher, in Messages. It is not shown to anyone else.
To stop seeing someone's Stories without unfollowing them, choose Mute Stories from the Story's menu. You can unmute them the same way.
Following
Follow an organizer or a place from their profile or page to see their posts under Following and their Stories in your row. Following is public: they see that you followed them, and follower counts are shown.
Following is separate from Notify me. Notify me is a private alert when they post a new event; you can use either, both or neither. See Notifications.
Who can post
Organizers with a published event, owners of a published place, verified organizers and Abonten can post Spotlights and Stories. Posting is not open to other accounts.
If you can post, New Spotlight appears in the app and on the website. Pick photos or a video, trim it, add a caption and optionally link one of your events or your place, then publish.
Promoting a Spotlight
A publisher can pay to show a live Spotlight to more people. Choose a budget and see an estimated reach before paying. Abonten reviews every promotion before it runs.
- You are charged for what is delivered. Budget that was not used is shown on the promotion; contact support about it.
- A promotion that is rejected in review is refunded in full.
- Promotions are paid in cash only; Abonten Credit cannot be used for them.
Blocking and reporting
Blocking someone hides their Spotlights, Stories and comments from you, and yours from them — see Messaging. Report posts that break the rules from the ⋯ menu; see Reporting a problem.
