Version 1.3-draft · Effective Not yet in force — set when approved · Last updated 2026-09-12 · Status: Review required

Terms and Conditions

Draft for review. This document describes how Abonten Hub works today and the terms we intend to apply. It has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel and has no effective date. Until it does, the sections below are our published description of the service, not a finalised contract. Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE — TO BE CONFIRMED].

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Abonten Hub ("Abonten", "we", "us") is a platform for discovering events and places in Ghana, buying event tickets, requesting bookings at places, messaging organizers and place owners, and sharing highlights and reviews. It is available at abontenhub.com and through the Abonten mobile app.

Abonten is operated by Abonten Hub Ltd, a private company limited by shares incorporated in Ghana under the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), company registration number CS015010126. Registered address: House No. 10, Purple Street, near Mount Zion Church, Weija Block Factory, Accra, Ga South District, Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Postal address: P.O. Box 465, Weija, Accra. Digital address: GS-0257-3290. Contact channels are described in section 19.

These terms apply to everyone who uses Abonten: people who browse and buy ("customers"), people who list and run events ("organizers"), people who manage a place listing ("place owners"), and members of Abonten's own field teams where that programme is running. Additional rules for organizers, place owners and field-team members are in sections 8 to 11.

By creating an account or continuing to use Abonten you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to enter into a binding agreement to use Abonten. Abonten does not currently ask for your date of birth, and a minimum age for the service has not yet been set; this is a pending decision and this section will be updated when it is made. Some events may carry their own age restrictions set by the organizer; you are responsible for meeting them.

You may not use Abonten if your account has been suspended or banned (section 15).

3. Your account

Creating an account. You can sign in with Google, with your phone number (we send a one-time code by SMS), or with your email address (we send a one-time code by email). Abonten has no passwords. One person should hold one account; if you sign in with a verified email address that already belongs to an account, you will be signed into that account.

Keeping it secure. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Keep your phone and email inbox secure, because anyone who can receive your one-time codes can sign in as you. Tell us at once through the support conversation if you think someone else has used your account.

Your details. You must give us accurate information (for example a phone number you control) and keep it up to date. You can edit your profile, username, avatar, phone number and email in Settings.

Closing your account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings › Security (web) or Settings › Security (app). Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Section 16 explains what is deleted and what we keep.

4. What Abonten is, and is not

Abonten is a marketplace and discovery service. Events are created, priced and run by organizers; places are listed and managed by their owners. Abonten is not the organizer of any event and not the operator of any place, and does not guarantee that an event will take place as described or that a place will be as listed.

When you buy a ticket, your contract for attending the event is with the organizer. Abonten provides the listing, the checkout, the ticket, the payment processing (through our payment provider) and the tools for refunds described below.

We may hide, remove or restrict any listing, review, highlight, message or account that breaks these terms (section 14).

5. Tickets and free registrations

Buying tickets. Ticket prices are set by the organizer. At checkout you see the ticket price, Abonten's service fee (section 6) and the total before you pay. When you start a checkout, the tickets you selected are held for you for 30 minutes; if you do not pay within that time the hold is released and you must start again. You can buy at most 50 tickets of one type and 100 tickets in a single order.

Free events. For free events you register instead of paying. Registrations follow the same rules on cancellation and attendance.

One order per event. You cannot start a second checkout for an event while you already have a pending checkout or a ticket for it.

Your ticket. Each ticket has a unique code and QR code, shown in My Tickets on the web and in the Tickets tab of the app, and sent to your email address if you have one on your account. A ticket is valid once; it is marked as used when the organizer checks you in. Do not share your QR code — anyone holding it can be checked in in your place.

Promo codes. Organizers may issue promo codes that reduce the ticket price. A code applies only to the event it was created for, within any limits the organizer set. Codes cannot be exchanged for money.

Changes to an event. Organizers may edit an event's details. If an organizer cancels an event, every ticket for it is cancelled and paid tickets are refunded as described in section 7. Abonten will notify you in the app and, for paid tickets, by email.

6. Prices, fees and payment

Currency. Prices are shown and charged in Ghana cedis (GHS) unless the listing states otherwise.

Service fee. Abonten charges the customer a service fee on paid tickets, calculated as a percentage of the ticket price and shown as a separate "Service fee" line at checkout before you pay. The organizer receives the full ticket price they set; the service fee is Abonten's revenue.

Payment processing. Payments are processed by Paystack. You can pay by card or mobile money, and you can save a payment method for later. When you save a card, Paystack verifies it with a small charge (GHS 1.00) that is refunded immediately; Abonten stores only a reference from Paystack plus the last four digits, brand and expiry to display to you — never your full card number or PIN. Saved mobile-money wallets are stored as display details only.

Failed or incomplete payments. If a payment fails or you close the payment window, no ticket is issued and the checkout hold is released when it expires. If a payment succeeds but your ticket does not appear, the app offers a "retry" that re-checks the payment and issues the ticket; you can also contact support. You will not be charged twice for the same checkout.

Paying with Abonten Credit. Where the Abonten Rewards programme is available to you (section 12), you may be able to pay part of a ticket or a promotion with Abonten Credit; the credit portion is shown separately from the cash portion at checkout.

7. Cancellations and refunds

Cancelling your own ticket. You can cancel a ticket from My Tickets / the Tickets tab while the ticket is still active. Cancelling a ticket releases it for someone else to buy.

Refunds when you cancel. When you cancel a paid ticket, Abonten requests a refund of the ticket price for that ticket from Paystack. The service fee is not refunded. The refund goes back to the payment method you paid with. A refund is requested at the moment you cancel and is completed when Paystack confirms it; your transaction history shows "refund pending" in between. Refund timing after Paystack confirms depends on your bank or mobile-money provider.

Refunds when the organizer cancels. If the organizer cancels the event, Abonten requests a refund of the ticket price for every paid ticket automatically, on the same terms as above (the service fee is not refunded). If a refund request fails, a "retry refund" option appears on your ticket and support can re-request it.

Refunds in other cases. Abonten does not run a general "change of mind" refund scheme beyond ticket cancellation. Disputes about an event's quality, timing or content are between you and the organizer; you can contact the organizer through in-app messaging, and you can report the event to Abonten (section 14). Abonten may, at its discretion, issue a refund or a goodwill credit where our own systems have failed.

Chargebacks. If you raise a dispute with your bank instead of contacting us, we may pause your account while it is investigated, and the organizer's payout for that event may be held.

8. Organizers

If you create an event you are an organizer, and the following applies in addition to the rest of these terms.

Your listing. You are responsible for the accuracy of everything in your event listing — title, description, dates, venue, ticket types, prices, capacity and images — and for holding any permits, licences or venue permissions the event needs. You must not list events you do not have the right to sell tickets for.

Ticket types and pricing. You set ticket types, prices and quantities. Abonten shows the customer your price plus Abonten's service fee. You may create promo codes for your event and, where the feature is available, offer a promoter commission (a percentage of the ticket price you choose, between 1% and 30%) to people who bring buyers; that commission is charged to you when the sale settles.

Your earnings. For each paid ticket you receive 100% of the ticket price you set, recorded as a pending earning at the time of sale. Earnings become available for payout 48 hours after your event ends (after its last date, for multi-date events). Refunds reverse the corresponding earning. Your Finances page shows pending and available balances and every ledger entry.

Payouts. You request a payout of your available balance to a payout account (bank or mobile money) that you add in Finances. Payouts are processed by Abonten's finance team and paid by bank or mobile-money transfer; a payout may be held for review, for example when a large share of an event's sales was paid with Abonten Credit, or when a dispute is open. Abonten does not charge a payout fee at this time.

Cancelling your event. You may cancel a draft or published event. Cancelling is final: every ticket is cancelled, every paid ticket is refunded to the buyer (ticket price only), all attendees are notified, and the related earnings are reversed. The confirmation screen shows the number of paid tickets, free registrations and attendees affected before you confirm.

Check-in. You can check attendees in from the attendee list (web and app) or by scanning their QR codes with the app's camera. A ticket can be checked in once.

Attendee data. You can see the names and contact details of people who hold tickets to your events so that you can run the event. You may use that information only for the event in question, must keep it secure, and must not sell it, share it, or use it for unrelated marketing. Abonten's Privacy Policy explains what attendees are told.

Reviews of your event. Attendees who were checked in can review your event after it ends. You may post one public response to each review and may edit or remove your response. You cannot remove a review; you can report one that breaks section 13.

9. Places and place owners

Listings. A place (a venue, restaurant, bar, shop or other business) can be listed on Abonten by its owner or added by an Abonten field team with the owner's consent (section 11). The person who creates a place listing is its owner on Abonten unless ownership is transferred through a claim.

Claiming a place. If a place you own is listed but you do not control the listing, you can submit a claim from the place page with an optional note, contact details and supporting documents. Abonten staff review claims; if approved, the listing is transferred to you and marked verified. Supporting documents are deleted 30 days after a claim is decided. Submitting a claim for a place you do not own is prohibited.

Managing a listing. Owners can edit the listing, opening hours, services, photos, temporary status (for example "closed today"), and can promote the place (section 10). You are responsible for keeping the listing accurate.

Bookings. Customers can send a booking request to a place, with an optional service, time, party size and note. A request is not a confirmed reservation until the owner accepts it in the app; owners can accept or decline, and customers can cancel their request. Abonten does not take payment for bookings and is not a party to any arrangement between you and the customer.

Reviews and replies. Customers can review a place; owners may post one public response per review. Owners cannot remove reviews but may report them.

Place visits. Where the Abonten Rewards programme is running, an owner may display a rotating QR code that visitors scan to record a visit. A visit is recorded only within roughly 150 metres of the place and at most once per person per day.

10. Promotions (paid featuring)

Organizers and place owners can pay to feature an event or a place for a period. Promotion tiers, prices and durations are shown before you pay. A promotion starts when payment is confirmed and runs for the purchased period; promoted listings are labelled as such. Promotions are not refundable once started, except where Abonten's systems failed to deliver them. Listings that are hidden or restricted for breaking these terms are not eligible to be promoted, and a promotion on a listing that is later removed is not refunded.

Abonten may run a field programme in which a regional team helps businesses and organizers get listed. When it is running:

  • A team member may create a place or event listing only with the verified consent of the business owner or organizer, given by the owner entering a one-time code sent to the owner's own phone, or by opening a consent link on their own phone. The listing is created under the owner's account, not the team member's.
  • Team members are ordinary account holders bound by these terms and by an additional code of conduct. They are never Abonten administrators, cannot claim listings for themselves, and cannot act as the owner of a business they onboard.
  • If you gave consent to a listing and want it changed or removed, contact support or edit it from your own account.

The programme is switched off at the time of writing; this section applies whenever it is running.

12. Abonten Rewards and Abonten Credit

Abonten operates a rewards programme that may grant Abonten Credit for activities such as inviting friends, sharing events that lead to ticket sales, buying tickets regularly, running events or venues that sell tickets, or promoting an organizer's event. When available, credit can be spent on Abonten (for example towards tickets or promotions) subject to the scope of each grant.

The following always applies to Abonten Credit:

  • It is a promotional balance, not money. It cannot be withdrawn as cash, transferred to another person, or exchanged outside Abonten.
  • Each grant may have an expiry date and a scope (for example "promotions only"). Expired or out-of-scope credit cannot be used.
  • Rewards for referrals and sales are provisional until the related event has taken place and the sale has settled; they may be reduced or cancelled if the sale is refunded, disputed or reversed.
  • Abonten screens rewards for abuse. Rewards may be withheld or cancelled, and accounts frozen, where we detect self-referral, duplicate accounts, shared payment methods or devices between referrer and buyer, unusual velocity, or other patterns that indicate the rules are being gamed.
  • If you delete your account, any Abonten Credit is forfeited and pending rewards are cancelled.
  • Abonten may change reward rules and rates, pause the programme, or end it. Changes do not remove credit already granted, but may affect how or where it can be spent.

Availability. At the time of writing the rewards programme is being trialled internally and is not generally available: it may not be visible in your account, and no credit is being granted to the public. Rewards pages that are visible describe what the programme offers when it launches.

13. Content and conduct

You are responsible for what you post: event listings, place details, photos and videos, highlights, reviews, messages and reports. You keep ownership of your content and give Abonten a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, resize and distribute it as needed to run the service (for example showing your event flyer in search results or sending it in a ticket email).

You must not:

  • post content that is illegal in Ghana, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that exploits or endangers children;
  • list events or places that do not exist, that you have no right to list, or with misleading dates, prices or locations;
  • run scams, sell counterfeit tickets, or collect payments outside Abonten while using our listing to attract buyers;
  • impersonate another person, business or Abonten itself;
  • post fake, paid-for or coordinated reviews, or review your own event or place;
  • send spam, unsolicited commercial messages or abusive messages through Abonten's messaging;
  • upload malware, or content designed to break the service;
  • attempt to bypass our security, access other people's accounts or data, scrape the service, or interfere with payments, rewards or inventory;
  • create multiple accounts or use other people's accounts to gain rewards, discounts or tickets you are not entitled to;
  • use attendee, customer or owner data for anything other than the transaction it was provided for.

We publish a more detailed description of prohibited content and how we moderate in our help centre.

14. Reporting, moderation and enforcement

Anyone can report an event, place, review, highlight, message, conversation, user or organizer from the "report" option on that item, choosing a reason such as spam, fraud or scam, misleading, harassment, inappropriate, fake listing, safety, copyright, impersonation or other, and attaching evidence. Reports are reviewed by Abonten staff.

Depending on what we find, we may:

  • leave the content in place;
  • restrict a listing (it stays visible but cannot be featured);
  • hide content while we investigate;
  • remove content;
  • clear an organizer's or owner's response to a review;
  • suspend or ban an account (section 15).

Hiding or removing content does not delete the underlying record where we need it for payments, refunds or legal reasons. Reporters are not told the outcome in detail, and repeatedly filing false reports is itself a breach of these terms.

Appeals. Abonten does not currently offer a formal appeals process. If you believe an action was wrong, contact support through the app or website; a member of staff with the appropriate permission can review and reverse it.

15. Suspension and termination

By you. You may stop using Abonten and delete your account at any time (section 3).

By us. We may suspend or ban your account if you break these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse or a security risk, if required by law, or if you raise a payment dispute in bad faith. A suspended or banned account is signed out of all devices and shown an "account restricted" screen; you will not be able to use the service until an Abonten administrator restores it. Existing tickets, payments and payout obligations are handled according to sections 7 and 8; we may withhold payouts connected to the conduct that led to the action.

16. What happens to your data when you leave

When you delete your account, your login, profile, events, places, favourites, highlights and saved payout details are deleted. Records we must keep for financial, security or legal reasons — payment transactions and tickets already issued, ledger entries, refund records, reports you filed (with your identity removed), moderation and administration logs, and rewards ledger history — are retained as described in the Privacy Policy. Your Abonten Credit balance is forfeited.

17. Intellectual property

The Abonten name, logo, app, website, design and software are owned by Abonten or its licensors and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from them, or use the Abonten name and marks without written permission, except as necessary to use the service as intended.

If you believe content on Abonten infringes your copyright, report it using the "copyright" reason (section 14) with details of the work and your rights.

18. Third-party services

Abonten relies on third-party providers, including Paystack (payments), Hubtel (SMS codes), Google (sign-in and maps), Resend (email), Cloudinary (image and video hosting), Expo (app notifications) and Supabase (accounts and data hosting). Their services are subject to their own terms; Abonten is not responsible for their outages or errors beyond what the law requires, but will work to resolve any problem they cause you.

Places may list phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers and websites; contacting a business through those is outside Abonten.

19. Support and contact

Support is provided through the in-app support conversation: open Messages and choose "Contact Abonten Support" (web) or Account › Help & support (app). Replies arrive as messages and notifications. The help centre at abontenhub.com/help answers common questions.

If you cannot sign in, email support@abontenhub.com from the email address on your account. Legal and privacy enquiries: privacy@abontenhub.com. Security reports: security@abontenhub.com (see the Security page). Postal address: Abonten Hub Ltd, P.O. Box 465, Weija, Accra, Ghana.

Support hours. Support is staffed Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 Ghana time (GMT), excluding Ghanaian public holidays. We aim to reply to support and privacy enquiries within two working days. This is a service goal, not a guarantee: it is not a contractual commitment and does not create a right to compensation if we take longer.

20. Disclaimers

Abonten is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that listings are accurate, or that events will take place. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under Ghanaian law that cannot be excluded by agreement.

21. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Abonten is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from an event or place (including cancellation, postponement, quality, injury or damage at a venue), from the conduct of other users, or from third-party providers. Where we are liable in connection with a purchase, our liability is limited to the amount you paid Abonten for that purchase. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Ghanaian law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.

22. Events outside our control

Neither you nor Abonten is responsible for a failure caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, such as power or network failures, payment-network outages, natural disasters, civil unrest, epidemics or acts of government. Organizers remain responsible for deciding whether to cancel an event and for the refunds that follow.

23. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Disputes that cannot be resolved through support will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Ghana. Whether an alternative dispute-resolution step (for example mediation) should be required first is a pending decision for legal review.

24. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The version and effective date appear at the top of this page. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect, and continuing to use Abonten after that date means you accept the updated terms. The history of changes is kept in our documentation.

25. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else; Abonten may transfer its rights and obligations to a successor operator of the service, and will notify you if it does. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy are the whole agreement between you and Abonten about the service.
